Work Rights during Studies
Stamp 2 Permission: International students with a Stamp 2 permission (Stamp 2 is a residence permission) are generally allowed to work part-time during term and full-time during vacations. This is subject to certain conditions, and the number of hours may vary. It’s important to check the specific conditions of your Stamp 2 permission.On-Campus Work: International students in Canada are typically allowed to work on-campus without a work permit. They can work up to 20 hours per week during the academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks.
Stay Back Options:
Third Level Graduate Scheme: Graduates from recognized Irish higher education institutions may apply for the Third Level Graduate Scheme. This scheme allows non-European Economic Area (EEA) graduates to remain in Ireland for a period after graduation for the purpose of seeking employment and gaining practical experience.
Postgraduate Degree Holders: Students who have completed a master’s or Ph.D. degree may be eligible for a stay-back period of up to 24 months.
Bachelor’s Degree Holders: Students who have completed a bachelor’s degree may be eligible for a stay-back period of up to 12 months.
Critical Skills Employment Permit: If you secure employment in a role that is considered a critical skill, you may be eligible for a Critical Skills Employment Permit, allowing you to work and reside in Ireland.
General Employment Permit: If your job offer does not fall under the Critical Skills category, you may still be eligible for a General Employment Permit, subject to certain conditions.
